Google declared today they will start requiring documentation of client personality and geographic area for advertisers.

This policy update requiring documentation already started in 2018 for Political Advertisements on Google.

Requirements for Advertisers

The ID Verification program will include:

  • Personal identification methods
  • Business incorporation documents
  • Possibly other items to verify who they are
  • Operating geography

The id verification program will start in the U.S. and will roll out globally and will apply to Search Ads, Display Ads, and YouTube Ads.

They will have 30 days to submit the required verification to google upon receiving notice it is required. Once submitted, it takes about 3-5 for Google to verify the documentation.

Failure to submit the information within 30 days will result in all the ads being stopped.

Changes for Ads user experience

Attached to this change, users will begin to see exposures on ads about the information of the advertiser.

This advertiser info will appear below the “Why this Ad?” choice

The information will include Advertiser name, country location, and a toggle option to stop receiving ads from them.
